With an emphasis on bringing public charging to communities, including the underserved, PowerMIDrive’s Community Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Program has awarded 18 sites across Michigan with the financial backing to make public EV charging a reality. Originally launched as a pilot program in July of 2023, the PowerMIDrive team has been able to bring five of these charging stations live with rebates up to $7,500.
Take a look at these public charging spots that are providing convenient charging in communities around Michigan.

The PowerMIDrive team partnered with State Electric Company who brought three of these charging sites to completion. Here’s what they had to say about the Community EV Charging Program:
Tell us about your experience with PowerMIDrive.
“The PowerMIDrive experience has been great thus far. Not only from a contractor standpoint, but a customer standpoint as well. We have no complaints with the process or the team. Going into some of these projects we were not too sure of what to expect or how cumbersome it might be, but upon completion we can confidently say that the program has made things a breeze.”
How was the application process?
“The application process is very easy, the PowerMIDrive team has made the application very straight forward and self-explanatory. Once you have gathered the small amount of information that is needed, one can skate through the application process in 10 minutes or so!”
How was communication with the team?
“After the application process, the team was extremely responsive, informative and respectful. We had most of our communication with PowerMIDrive team member, Paul N. He was very efficient with responding to questions and ensuring we had all the information needed when we needed it. Paul was a key component to our experience being as successful as it was.”
How easy was it to receive the rebate?
“The rebate was sent out immediately once the project was completed. We hardly had the charging stations turned on before there was a check in our mailbox! With a process like this, other customers can take assurance that the PowerMIDrive team is there to ensure the program is moving in the right direction and really cares about its success.”
What would you tell others who are considering applying?
“If you have a suitable location for an installation, you should apply! It was easy, painless, and overall, a good experience.”
Any final feedback/comments?
“We hope this program sticks around for a while. It’s a great incentive for site owners to complete these installations and get the needed infrastructure in at local businesses, parks, housing complexes etc., especially when the process is this streamlined.”
Due to resounding public support, Community EV Charging has become a permanent PowerMIDrive program. Funding is readily available to communities who apply and have their projects approved. The program offers a $7,500 rebate for every two Level 2 charging ports installed. This additional incentive is only available for the first 25 sites completed, so all customers interested are encouraged to apply soon!
